I bought a Mac

That’s about all I have to say on the matter really.
The jury is still out on whether I like it or not, it is nice and light and quiet but I have not yet figured out how to get it to do ‘stuff’

OK ok, I know, I set this up then didn’t post!

Yes I know, the idea of a blog is so that I write something for you to read!

It is well over a week since I posted anything, so here a brief recap of why I haven’t written anything.

A week last Friday I went along to the Creative Industries Investment Roadshow at the Light House Media Centre in Wolverhampton, where James Clarke (who quite fancies the girl on reception there) brought me lunch.   James and Steph have set up their own hyperlocal blog over at www.WV11.co.uk a nice clean & functional site for the people of WV11.  We also managed to catch up with Jason Hall from Screen WM who was presenting on behalf of 3 people at the event.  Jason is one of the stakeholders who fund the Talk About Local project along with 4iP.

Last week I did some photographic work at the old JCB site in Utoxetter and continued the development of the new pitsnpots.co.uk site getting it ready for it’s relaunch in September.  On Wednesday Nicky and I met with Mark Steadman from Bluemilkshake Web Design to run through the spec for the Talk About Local site, which we hope to get started in development in the next week or so.  On Thursday we met with Jayne the marketeer from MM Design who is going to sort out our corporate identity in-line with our delivery partners UK online centres.

Nicky and I had an interesting meeting with Sion Simon the Minister for Creative Industries, at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport on Thursday afternoon.  Sion was very interested in the Talk About Local project and how hyperlocal blogs are going to fit in with traditional media.

On Friday Nicky came up to Stoke-on-Trent for the day to catch up with our Saturday girl Clare White, to meet up with some local bloggers & creatives then have a quick tour of some of the sights & sites of the city.  Clare and I were interested in an outsiders view on the regeneration that is supposedly taking place around Longport & Middleport.  I think it is fair to say that Nicky was somewhat shocked by the sheer number of houses that have been pulled down in the area with no sign of any building work going on to replace them.

Maybe a local driving school could buy up all the streets that have no houses on them and use it as a training centre, that seems to be the only thing that goes on around there now.

Hello World!

Well hello there!

Welcome to my blog, I’m going to use this to brain dump stuff from my work at Talk About Local, sometimes 140 characters on Twitter just isn’t enough!  It will tie quite nicely in with my site, my twitter feed and other projects.

I’ll post about what we are up to over at TAL, where we are running sessions, how cool our offices are and the fact that I think we should have an office pet.  Do you think it is appropriate to suggest an Alpaca as our first office pet?

Of course the first port of call for the project should always be talkaboutlocal.org

I’ll update the links with stuff that I think will be interesting, funny or useful and I guess I should say that any opinions expressed here are mine and I am not mad!
