Royal Mail Vs Ernest Marples
It seems that the Royal Mail have put legal pressure on http://ernestmarples.com/ and forced them to close their site, which in turn affects sites such as:
HealthWhere – http://www.mappage.org/hw/
Job Centre Pro Plus – http://jobcentreproplus.com/
Planning Alerts – http://planningalerts.com/
They have also threatened Harry Metcalfe one of the directors of Ernest Marples Postcodes Ltd trying to make him liable as well as the Limited company he is a director of.
Nobody likes piracy, Ernest Marples Postocodes Ltd say they have not got a copy of the Royal Mail database (which was released on to teh internets a couple of weeks ago) they are now being asked to provide the source of their data and that they do not have the full database.
Philip John has written a short post on how you can free your postcode from the clutches of Royal Mail, which is well worth a read of and worth investing about 90 seconds of your time in doing.
I was doing some pondering and thought that a more direct way of taking action with the Royal Mail would be to make use of their complaints system for mail that is late or even lost, obviously you can only use this system if your mail is actually late or lost, so please don’t abuse the service but in a public service kind of way here is the link to report late or lost post to the Royal Mail. You could also report any damaged mail that you may have recieved.
Remember Royal Mail is a service and a profit making business, the only way they can improve is if you tell them about their failures.
