Curating Crimes Against Democracy

After yesterdays post I started thinking about the examples where members of the public have been stopped from holding power to account, and where Local Authorities have tried stop the principles of Openness & Transparency by having people removed from meetings or simply denying them access.

There must be more than the handful of cases I blogged about yesterday but there is no one place that I could see where these are curated. So I have created a simple spreadsheet and form so we can start tracking them.

If you have been on the receiving end of a Local Authority trying to obscure the democratic process then fill in this form and let’s see what we can do with the data. To start with just plotting the Local Authorities on a map will be a starting point but as (or if) we get more data then we can do more with it. If you think there is a question or some information I have missed asking for leave me a comment below and I’ll update the sheet.

I’ll be making the results public so please don’t libel or defame councillors or officers. Keep to the facts and provide as much information as you can.

Oh and of course if someone is already doing this them let me know, no point in duplicating work..
