The Staffordshire Hoard

I remember when the first lot of treasure from the Staffordshire Hoard arrived at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery in 2010, I went along to photograph it being unwrapped and also to the press launch of the exhibition.

I distinctly remember being told that the whole field and surrounding area had been searched for any other artefacts by specialist forensic teams and they could guarantee that there was nothing left in the field if people went with metal detectors, ‘not even a 2p out of the farmers pocket‘ was one quote.
