Stoke-on-Trent to get a dead whale

published on October 4, 2012 by Mike Categories: General Rambling #Tagged: News, Rendering, Stoke-on-Trent, Weird news, Whale, Wildlife

Stoke-on-Trent, well Cheddleton actually, is getting a dead whale..

From the BBC

dead fin whale on a beach

A whale which died after being beached on the Suffolk coast has been taken away to be rendered.

The fin whale died on Sunday after getting stranded at Shingle Street near Woodbridge.

The 10m (33ft) long animal, which weighs about eight tonnes, was loaded on to a transport.

It is being taken to Stoke-on-Trent where it is due to be rendered, possibly for biofuel.

Harnesses were strapped around the whale to lift it on to a low-loader.

Now what could possibly go wrong?

Well hopefully nothing like the Taiwanese whale split from 2004, where a deal whale being transported on a low loader for research split open on the street.

Now that would be a sight if it did split!
