Aberdeenshire Council recently announced that they were going to be rolling out a cashless parking system for pay to use car parks across the shire using a company called RingGo. Aberdeen City already have cashless parking in place using a company called Pay By Phone.
As you can see in the map above, and here, there are currently no RingGo car parks north of Blair Athol, with the Aberdeenshire ones to be added shortly, I imagine. I wonder why Aberdeenshire didn’t go with the same system as Aberdeen City?
As far as I am aware, Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire share a head of Procurement and procure services together to get best value, surely it would be more cost effective, not to mention simpler for users, to have one supplier for cashless parking?
Imagine just having one app and one account to manage your parking across Aberdeenshire and the City? Instead we have to have two apps and two accounts to manage.
Maybe it is more cost effective for the shire to go with their own supplier or maybe City will move to RingGo in the future. I wonder if it was even thought about from a user perspective?
